A native Minnesotan, Dr. Robert J. Zabel is a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic surgeon who has served Twin Cities patients since the early 2000s. He specializes in the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer. He also treats acne, rashes, dermatitis, psoriasis, and many other disorders of the skin, hair, and nails. Dr. Zabel’s formal education and training includes:

During his training at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Zabel finished at the top of his class. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency in the United States Army at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. While there, he served as chief medical resident and chief of the internal medicine clinic. He also served as chief resident at Lehigh Valley Hospital during his dermatology residency.
Dr. Zabel has contributed to several publications and presentations. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology (AOBD), the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), the American Society for Mohs Surgery (ASMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology (AOCD).
In his spare time, Dr. Zabel enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his two grown children. He also enjoys sports, exercise, snowmobiling, cars, and travel.
